ABOUT
My work is an exploration of processes of growth, form and deterioration in the real and imagined natural world and what is interior (hidden) and exterior (visible). The weirdness of it and the wonder of it. Roots, shoots, pods, seeds, skin and husks have been constant motifs in my work for the past twenty-five years.
In making both sculptural and currently 2-D pieces, processes of layering, adding and subtracting, are employed to organically "grow" the work. In this way, a specific idea is transformed and shaped by the materials used: powder pigments, paper, thread, wax, steel wire.
Drawing is central to my practice, with shape, form, texture and mark-making taking precedence over colour, which is used sparingly.
Following a break, I recently returned to making and exhibiting, alongside maintaining a career in arts outreach, consultation and development.
